Start in the dining room and the move to smaller forgotten rooms like the bathroom or bedroom.

Welcome guests with a sign of spring. Accent your front door with a spring wreath complete with spring flowers or colors. This is a fun way to accent the front door, as is a fresh coat of paint or some new hardware!

Change out towels and other linens to lighter colors

Change out your linens to reflect the season. Get rid of the heavy wool blankets and plaid prints and replace them with soft and light linen and cotton. Opt for white linens or linens that are soft in color and pattern.

Add small spring vignettes

A vignette is a small arrangement of similar objects to create a dramatic effect. Make your own vignette with a collection of items such as vases, books, pitchers, figurines, or other items of your choosing. Arrange them on a buffet or side table for effect. Let there be light!

Bring plenty of light into your home by pulling blinds and curtains open. You can also switch to lower and softer wattage light bulbs. Use lighter colors through the house and use natural light whenever possible. Open the windows and let fresh air in. After all, you have been cooped up all winter.

Maintain a regular cleaning schedule

You don’t have to do deep spring cleaning, just vow to do a quick pick up and declutter each day for 45 minutes to an hour. This will make a huge difference in the appearance of your home and how you feel about it. Once you get use to this schedule, you can always add to it.
