I’m excited to have been selected as one of Lean Cuisine’s Phenomenal Ambassadors. I’ve been working with the brand all summer to help share great stories of accomplishments and great food.
I am lucky enough to know some amazingly phenomenal women. I have some fantastic friends, family members and even those I know only from my interactions on social media. When life gets overwhelming or I need to share big news (good and bad), I know that I can count on any of them to share in my big moments.
Recently, I’ve been dealing with some health issues. Due to chronic pain over many many years, I opted a few weeks ago to go in for a breast reduction. Besides the initial backlash from certain people (“WHY? Why would you remove these things that make you a woman??”), the support I received was mostly positive and supportive. When the big day came, I went into the hospital with a smile.
But the bad news came quickly afterward. Though I was sent home within a couple of hours thinking all was well, it turned out that over the next few days, I developed a pretty bad infection. I ended up back in the hospital and had to have emergency surgery to fix the problem. My hospital stay was rough and lasted several days before I was sent home to recover on my own. My poor husband had to take control of our home, our three young children and take care of me.
So when a friend of mine – one I knew only through the internet – reached out to me and offered to bring me a few easy meals to help me recover, I was floored. My husband was honestly struggling to keep up with the demands of his job, as well as everything else at home, so I quickly took her up on her offer and she came over with several meals, thanks to Lean Cuisine!
She knew from my blog that I am a Lean Cuisine ambassador, and she thought it would be nice to bring me food that she knew I’d love. With the gift cards I received from Lean Cuisine, she chose a selection of meals from their many ranges, she even got one cooking for me before she left to ensure that I got fed before my husband got home so that I didn’t have to wait — I was really very grateful for her thoughtful gesture.
I will never forget her kindness or the way she went out of her way to help someone she didn’t even know. The world is truly full of phenomenal women.
With all of these meals, I’ve been feeling rather spoiled for choice. My husband is relieved not to have to think up new things to make for me as I lay on the couch and recover (it’s a long, slow process unfortunately), and he’s taking a lot of satisfaction in plating my meals in fancy new ways.
My favorite flavor so far has been the Sweet and Spicy Korean Style Beef, and it turns out it’s my 2-year old son’s favorite, too! He is constantly stealing from my plate when I eat it!
As part of its transformation, Lean Cuisine re-organized into sublines that are more reflective of the ways women make their food choices, introduced ten new recipes within the Lean Cuisine Marketplace subline, and developed packaging that now features a bold, new look for each subline.
The new sublines include:
- Marketplace – For times when women seek modern foods and chef-inspired offerings
- Craveables – Includes indulgent, casual food you would find at a neighborhood bar, such as pizza and sandwiches, and features many items that are high in protein
- Comfort – Perfect when only comforting, home-cooked flavors will satisfy
- Favorites – Includes enduring “favorite recipes” such as Spaghetti with Meatballs and other popular, existing recipes
I love that I have delicious food for any occasion – even when I’m recovering from surgery and can’t cook it myself. Here is the Lean Cuisine product locator so that you can see where exactly they sell these specific dishes in your area! These Lean Cuisine meals are nothing short of phenomenal – just like the women that surround me.
A big big thank you to all those women who reached out to me over the last few weeks to make sure I’m doing okay. It always astounds me how selfless people can be and how so many relationships can be nurtured through just our words.
