Okay, so I know this isn’t a fashion blog, but I KNOW I’m not the only mama who wants to look good without spending a fortune. And if you’re like me, clothes shopping can be a bit of a downer (especially this time of year) because finding something to flatter our post-baby bodies is next to impossible. But shoes… SHOES! Ladies, shoes never let you down. As long as you try them on and make sure they fit in store, you won’t get home and find that the lighting was all wrong and they actually look terrible. You aren’t constrained by stores that cater only to the smaller sizes, and you don’t have to worry about looking too old for a certain style. Girls, shoes are my best friend. And shoe shopping is about the most fun you can have standing up!
Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve been shopping at Payless. My mom always took us there once a year to buy new shoes for school, and I wasn’t NEARLY as enthusiastic then as I am now. Let’s face it – buying school shoes means buying practical shoes that last a long time and are good value for money. My mom knew then that Payless was the place to get what we needed. It’s no wonder then that as I grew older, I never really considered Payless as a place to buy fashionable footwear. So imagine my surprise when I found myself in there a few years ago and realized that they are SO much more than a place to buy boring shoes.
The most amazing part of shopping at Payless is that you get INCREDIBLE value for your money. The shoes are SUPER cute with so many styles for any taste. My purple hair will attest that I love the offbeat styles best, and I was over the moon to see the great selection. But the PRICES! You would never believe them unless you went there on your own. The prices are great right off the bat. Brand new shoes are reasonably marked to be affordable to even a mom of three like me. But the SALES!
Payless has some of the best sales of anywhere I’ve ever been. In fact, on my recent trip there, I found that there was a big sale of Buy One, Get One Half Price! You KNOW I was all over that!
Let’s be honest, it’s the holiday season, and I’m going to be going to parties, attending nice dinners with family and friends, and posing for family photos. Not to mention going out and about with the kids to go shopping, visit Santa and attend fun holiday-themed events. I want to look on trend this year, so I ended up buying FOUR pairs of shoes! And do you want to know how much I paid?? Less than $70! The already great prices combined with the BOGO offer allowed me to get four pairs of amazing and stylish shoes for less than the cost of one pair elsewhere!
I love these strappy black ones for family gatherings. They are modest but still really cute and will be perfect paired with a nice dress or skirt and blouse. They have nice chunky heels to keep me comfortable as I stand around chatting. Perfect!
Or how about these adorable grey and burgundy plaid wedges? I love the little buckle detail at the toes. It takes them from boring to beautiful in one fell swoop. These will be great for my husband’s office party, teamed with a cute and feminine pant suit. Plus the wedges give me extra height without wobbling around on sky high heels!
Probably my favorite of the bunch, these black and white checkered heels are the most adorable shoes I have EVER owned. They are comfort fit shoes, so they are nice and wide (but not too wide), cushioned (for maximum comfort) and have the daintiest heels (without being slippery). I LOVE the pattern on these ones. They will be paired with everything! I love matching my shoes to my outfits, but with awesome monochrome shoes like this, I tend to do a lot of mismatching to add a bit of flair. SO CUTE.
And finally, I just HAD to buy a pair of cute loafers after seeing so many of them on the Autumn/Winter catwalks this year. I chose these stylish flowery shoes to cheer me up when the weather is dreary. They’ll keep me in a springtime state of mind until I get there for real. I’ll probably just be wearing these around the house or out and about running errands, but they are sure to keep me totally on trend even in leggings and a sweatshirt!
I seriously love this store so much. And did you know that they are not JUST about shoes? I had no idea until recently that they stock a whole load of accessories, as well! Purses, wallets, socks, tights and more! I’m going to be returning soon to buy a couple of really cute infinity scarves I saw hanging. They will be perfect to jazz up my boring winter coat!
Do you shop at Payless? What do you think of their selection? Would you wear any of these shoes?
