Celebrate Cinco De Mayo with Margaritas Three Ways!
Cinco De Mayo is the perfect time to learn how to make a flavored margarita. These recipes are simple, delicious and great for your next party.
Do you have a drink you order again and again? Mine is the margarita. I think it’s because my mom always loved margaritas, and to me they say PARTY time. I think it’s also because when I was younger, I was obsessed with the movie Practical Magic, and I always wanted to have some crazy magical aunts who woke me up for midnight margaritas. I mean, come on! Waking up just to get drunk with your favorite girls!? There is little that can compare.
I recently got back from a trip to Scottsdale, Arizona, and I was lucky enough to have a nice four course dinner at The Mission, a Mexican restaurant that was totally amaze-balls. But the real hit of the evening was their margaritas. I had three of them (their Primarita and the Blood Orange)! And they were amazing. It got me totally pumped for Cinco De Mayo, and I thought I’d bust out some of my favorite recipes to share.
Cherry Lime-a-Rita Recipe
First up is the awesome Cherry Lime-a-Rita. This one is SOOO yumtastic. It’s like cherry limeade, but alcoholic!
For a two person serving (or one if you’re me!), you’ll neeed:
- 4 oz. of Tequila
- 2oz Triple Sec
- 4 cups of Sprite
- 1/4 cup of Grenadine
- 1/2 Lime freshly squeezed
- 5 Maraschino Cherries
Fill a pitcher up with ice. Pour in the Tequila and Tripe sec and then add the 4 cups Sprite. Add the grenadine and the lime juice. Stir to fully mix all ingredients and then garnish with Cherries and lime wedges. PERFECTION!
** For a kid friendly version, leave out the liquor and add in a bit of the juice from the Maraschino cherries!
Strawberry Beer-Rita Recipe
Next up is the fun and funky Strawberry Beer-Rita. It’s a thing of beauty, honestly. If you love strawberries, you will not be able to help but love this!
For a two person serving, you’ll need:
- 4 oz. of Tequila
- 2oz Triple Sec
- 4 cups of sweet and sour mix
- ½ cup of strawberry puree
- 2 Cornonas
Fill a pitcher up with ice and then Pour in the Tequila and Tripe sec. Add the 4 cups of sweet and sour mix and then the strawberry puree. Stir to fully mix all ingredients. Pour into two glasses just under ¾ of the way full. Open 2 SMALL bottles of Corona and flip them over into the glasses and leave them. How good is that!?
** For a kid friendly version, leave out the liquor and use Sprite instead of Corona!
Skinny Cucumber Margarita Recipe
Finally, we have something for the more adventurous ladies out there. This one is a Skinny Cucumber Margarita, and it is in its own category of awesome. If you don’t like cucumbers (what is wrong with you?!), you will want to stay away from this, but it is seriously one of the MOST refreshing drinks you can make.
For one serving, here’s what you’ll need.
- 2-3 Cucumbers
- 1 Lime
- Tequila
- Cointreau
- Salt
Peel and chop your cucumbers then add them to the blender and puree until they are smooth. Pour the puree into a glass and set aside. Add the juice of 1 lime, a 2 oz shot of tequila and a 1oz shot of cointreau into a tumbler and shake it like a polaroid picture! SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE IT OFF! Ahem…
Run a wedge of lime around the rim of your glass and dip it in salt. Fill the glass with ice. Pour the puree and the tumbler of liquor into the glass and garnish with a lime wedge and some cucumber ribbons. C’est magnifique!
Remember to drink responsibly! Go out and enjoy your Cinco De Mayo!!
