One of the biggest problems I always have as a new mom is finding the right bra. As pregnancy progresses, my already ample bosom gets bigger and bigger, and once I give birth – forgetaboutit – my breasts are like boulders. Women of every size and shape will notice a sizable difference in their boobs once they become moms. And if you decide to breast feed, the extra bonus boobs will stick around for quite a while. So it’s very important to have the correct bra when it comes time.
So when the folks at Bravado Designs offered to let me have a couple of their Essential Embrace Nursing Bras to try out and review, I was stoked. Not only did they have my size in stock (which is a minor miracle!!), they were even super cute!
Nursing bras are awesome. Not only are they MADE to support your extra large melons, but they have clever little snaps in place so that you can easily remove your breasts, one at a time, from their cup and give your baby easy access. I can’t imagine how women coped before these were invented!
Now I will be honest here – as a larger busted woman, I am very picky about bras. I will always prefer an underwire bra to a soft cup, even with nursing bras. The trouble is, it is VERY hard to find good underwire nursing bras in larger sizes. As a result, my experiences with a soft cup are probably not going to be the same as someone with smaller breasts.
As far as my new Bravado bras, they worked kind of like a sports bra. They held me in and up, but after 8 – 12 hours in one, I did notice a bit of sag and less support. This isn’t such a big deal – you don’t wear nursing bras to impress anyone, after all. But it did make me feel like I’d have to buy several bras to make sure I could have a new one each day. As with all bras, you should never wear them two days in a row, as the elastic needs time to recover and reshape. But I think I’d feel happier with these bras if I left them two or three days between wears.
But I did find that the bras were VERY comfortable. The fabric was breathable, it had some slimming effects on my back fat and it included an extender for those days when I’m a bit… ahem… engorged and need some extra room.

All in all, this bra is incredibly good value for money. It is supportive, stylish, and affordable, and it is well built enough to last through pregnancy and your nursing journey.
