Cooking Basics: Simple Whipped Cream
In an effort to become proficient at making various dishes and desserts, it is a good idea to become familiar with basic food recipes. With that in mind, I decided to start sharing some of the simplest yummies I can find so that you can know what you’re doing in the kitchen. I decided to start with a good whipped cream recipe, as it allows you to have a go-to dessert topping which can be changed up in so many different ways. Try it on pie, ice cream or cake! Dip your fruit in it. Whatever takes your fancy.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 cup heavy cream
- 6 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 4 Tbsp sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Add all of the ingredients into a chilled bowl. Use a whisk, electric beater or your kitchen mixer to beat it all together until it is soft and can hold soft, billowy peaks. Don’t overmix it, though, or it will turn into sweet butter! Of course, there’s a solution for that, too. If you ever overbeat your whipped cream, simply add in a few tablespoons of fresh cream and whisk by hand until it becomes soft again.
Enjoy!
