Every day, in the early afternoon, the one thing on our family’s mind is food. A whole morning of activities is enough to make us feel like we haven’t eaten in years. Since I’ve got three kids at home, it feels like we are feeding an army every afternoon!
Keeping to a common theme of my motherhood journey, I try and keep snacks as SIMPLE as possible. When I can do simple and delicious in one fell swoop, you’d better believe that I’m all over it! It’s the main reason why I keep my pantry full up with RITZ Crackers! It’s pretty much our go-to snack when we need sustenance quickly. And you’d better believe we have a TON of fun as we prepare them.
My kids are fairly picky eaters most of the time. Dexter, the six year old, is the worst, as he hates trying new things. So it’s awesome for me that he loves RITZ Crackers and cream cheese. There are so many sweet or savory choices for him, and it’s a great way to get him to try things he wouldn’t ordinarily try.
We generally buy our groceries from our local Albertsons Companies store, and it is never short of ingredients to make super snacks. I usually whip up a platter for all of us to share, and we all love it. Our main ingredients are always RITZ Crackers and cream cheese, as it’s so easy to find versatile ways to use them.
I love this recipe where you can mix half a cup of Mexican-blend shredded cheese with 4oz of cream cheese to make a lovely cracker topping and then add some sliced jalapeño on top. You might not think kids would like it, but honestly, we all love them!
Or another favorite is plain cream cheese on our RITZ Crackers and then sliced olives and sun-dried tomatoes to create emoticon faces! This is a huge favorite of my kids, since they can be really creative.
Of course, at times the kiddos (and me, if I’m honest!) want something sweet as a treat, and that’s easy enough, as well.
One of the best things is to spread 24 RITZ Crackers with 4 oz of cream cheese, and then top with 1/2 cup of strawberry pie filling! We only make a third of the recipe at a time, since there’s only a few of us, and it would be all too easy to overindulge.
Another great use of fruit is to mix a small can of chopped pineapple in juice with 4 oz of cream cheese, spread on RITZ Crackers and top with a maraschino cherry. It’s a similar idea, but slightly more tropical!
Probably one of our most used recipes is the one we all really love. Mix 2 Tablespoons of cream cheese with 2 Tablespoons of your favorite nut butter. Spread on 24 RITZ Crackers and then drizzle with a small amount of chocolate syrup. Then add some chopped nuts on top. The family goes WILD for this.
Save $1 on cream cheese (8 oz. or larger, selected varieties) when you buy 2 (two) boxes of RITZ Crackers (10.3 oz. or larger, selected varieties) at Super Saver.
What do you think? Will you try one of these recipes the next time you need a fun family snack? Let me know your favorite!
