This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Sprout Organic Foods . All opinions are 100% mine.
I know that my son, Chester, LOVES these little pouches. At nearly two years old, he is developmentally a little bit behind. He still takes a bottle, which I often feel guilty about, and he can’t yet feed himself with a spoon or fork. So we turn to these clever pouches, which we know are full of quality ingredients, so that he can have the independence of feeding himself.
Sprout is committed to providing the best nutrition and uses only certified-organic, non-GMO ingredients like whole fruits, vegetables and grains. They only use ingredients like those that would be found in your own kitchen – no preservatives and nothing artificial!
I really do put a lot of thought into what my kid’s put in their bodies. But I’ll admit that I took most companies at their word when they said their foods were more nutritious than the competition. So I recently made a trip to Babies R Us so I could check out whether or not Sprout really was as good as I thought it was.
I headed straight for the baby food aisle, and I let Chester choose a few of the pouches that most appealed to him. Understandably he chose ones which were colorful and fun, and they were familiar brands that we have used many times over the years. I immediately grabbed a few pouches of similarly flavored Sprout Organic and flipped them over to compare ingredients. Sprout honestly labels their products so flavor names match the primary order of ingredients inside. This way moms know EXACTLY what they are feeding their babies.
As you can see from this first one, the pouch on the right looks fairly healthy. But when compared to Sprout, you can see one major difference. Sprout doesn’t have ANY preservatives. It is literally full of JUST the fruits and vegetables it says on the package. And while the pouch on the right uses Organic Lemon Juice Concentrate, which isn’t particularly harmful, I like the fact that Sprout doesn’t try and make their products last longer than they naturally should.
I tried another brand, and once again I found the same preservative added. And while this may not seem like a huge deal, it really made me start thinking about the need for any sort of preservative – even natural ones like lemon juice. Preservatives are literally there to stop or slow down the process of fermentation. It means your foods won’t get moldy as quickly or deteriorate as fast. And I’m not sure that is all to the good, if I’m honest. I really appreciate using food when it’s at its best rather than trying to forestall the inevitable.
I would never dream of judging another mom for giving her child another brand. I am of the opinion that feeding your kids is the most important thing, and we’re all doing the best we can. I’ve definitely been the mom who goes and buys whatever food is on sale to save some money. But when Sprout Organic Foods makes such wholesome food available that is tasty, healthy and inexpensive, I have to admit I am drawn to them as the best choice for my kiddo.
And it really helps that Chester loves them.
So if you are looking for the best food for your baby, consider checking the ingredients label. Compare Sprout to any other baby food pouch, and I think you’ll be able to see for yourself exactly why it is such an impressive product. You can always trust Sprout to have your baby’s best interests at heart. Their Honesty Pledge promises to Keep it Honest, Make it Real. Stop by your local Babies R Us on Sep 9th – Oct 2nd so you can receive a $10 gift card with a $25 Sprout purchase.
