In my ongoing partnership with Firefly® as part of their Healthy Habit Helpers team, I have been very lucky to get to try out some awesomely awesome products with my kids. As a family, we understand the importance of teaching children about good oral care habits. But while our kids are receptive to the information, they aren’t always enthusiastic about actually forming those good habits.
Firefly has changed all of that. Firefly helps make oral care accessible to children with innovative and creative products geared toward kids. The newest brushes and mouth rinse they sent us were a HUGE hit with my boys, and it has reinvigorated their desire to keep to healthy habits.
Currently we still have to brush our youngest’s teeth for him, and we use one of Firefly’s awesome manual Storm Trooper toothbrushes. It keeps his attention because we can make funny Star Wars jokes with him as we brush. And since his favorite pastime is chewing on his toys, it’s kind of second nature to him to have an action figure in his mouth!
With the older boys, however, we gravitate toward mechanical brushes with rotary power. Since they often have trouble moving the brush in the correct motions, the rotary action does a lot of the hard work for them. Plus, they love the whir noises it makes as they brush!
Daniel took an immediate liking to the cool Secret Life of Pets toothbrush featuring Duke from the film. It’s one of his favorite movies right now, and he thinks it’s super cool to have a toothbrush featuring his favorite character.
Dexter, on the other hand, a well-known lover of the color pink, was drawn to the Hello Kitty variety of brush. I had thought to gift this to one of his female cousins, but he was adamant that it was his favorite, and who was I to take that away from him?
I love that these brushes feature a nice thick base for the kids to hold on to. Regular toothbrushes are often unwieldy for them to use, and they end up frustrated at their inability to control it well enough. But these brushes allow them to hold them properly, while the rotating heads ensure that their teeth are being agitated enough to remove layers of food and grime.
One of my favorite products, though, is the mouth rinses that Firefly makes. We have been using a Spider-Man themed mouthwash in melon flavor that Firefly was kind enough to send us a few months ago. But the newest version is Finding Dory-themed, and it features an “Ocean Melon” flavor, which the kids really love. These mouthwashes are anti-cavity formulas which are sugar free, too!
As a mom of young kids, I try hard to instill as many good habits in them as I can. Making self-care a priority is an important skill to teach them, and a great way to do that is to make it more fun. Firefly has definitely raised the bar as far as kids oral care is concerned, and I can’t wait to see what they come out with next!
What do you think? Do you use Firefly® products? What’s your favorite?
