Do you ever get a craving for something sweet and just want an easy recipe to satisfy that craving? Do you ever think “boy this ice cream would taste better with a drizzle of caramel sauce?” Or even, “Wow, I’d love to dip my apples into a nice candy coating?” Well this recipe is for you then. It takes five minutes on your stove, and it makes a perfect and versatile easy caramel sauce! In coffee, over ice cream, as a layer in your cake or just eaten with a spoon, it is decadent and delicious.
Here’s what you’ll need.
1 C light brown sugar
1/4 C evaporated milk
1 stick of butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 pinch of salt
All you need to do is throw all the ingredients into a saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir it and let it melt and combine and boil for about five minutes or until it’s nicely thick and pourable. Remove to a glass jar or bowl and let it set for 15 minutes and then place in the fridge until completely cooled.
This is such a great recipe because it is super quick. Make sure you keep the kids away – molten sugar is VERY hot and will burn. But one it’s done, the kids can just dig right in to the sauce! It’s a great way to get them to eat some fruit. Mine love to dip their pears in it.
Here’s a quick video of the process so you can see just how easy it really is!
