I’ve never been a girly girl who is into fashion, but since I’ve had my three little boys, I do feel a certain need to express my femininity a bit more. As a result, I’ve found myself becoming more and more interested in beauty trends and cute clothes. My tom-boy teenaged self would be mortified!
With my post baby body type, which can only be described as “frumpy,” I have found that the best styles that work for me are cute dresses that accentuate my admittedly-not-very-small waist and minimize my hips. So when I found this super adorable Story of Citrus dress in Noir Blossom from Mod Cloth, I was amazed at how great it made me feel.
I bought this back in June so that I had something cute to wear to ALT Summit. I got SO many compliments on this outfit, and I was really happy with my purchase. So when hubby and I decided to have a date night and explore our city together, I thought it would be the perfect thing to wear.
We started with dinner together at a local pub, and once we’d finished we strolled through our neighborhood and ended up at Hidden Hollow Park. We hadn’t been there before, so we spent about an hour just walking around. At some point, Mark started taking photos of me, directing me where to stand.
The natural beauty of the area made for a terrific backdrop, and we kept taking turns posing for photos and taking little videos with our phones. I can’t remember a time we laughed more.
I love just hanging out with my husband. Date nights can be stressful sometimes, but we are each other’s best friend, so mostly we just giggle and be silly together.
I gotta say that I love my handbag, as well. It’s the Every Day, Everywhere Bag in Black, and it holds EVERYTHING I need. It is such a great bag, as it’s roomy, but it has pockets inside and out so you can keep things separated if you want. I usually have a few diapers or bottles in mine, in addition to everything else I carry around like wallet and notebooks and keys and glasses.
I’ll be honest, it was a little too warm to be wearing this cardigan, but I LOVE it so much. It is the Charter School Cardigan in Honey, and it sets off the dress so nicely, I think.
And how amazing are these Haute Harmony Wedges in Mustard? They are super comfortable for women like me who never learned how to walk in heels. I was able to navigate the tree roots all around me with ease!
I’m not one to normally wear something so covered in flowers, but I really think this dress looks so pretty without being overly girly. I’ve actually bought the same dress in a few different patterns now because it is just so perfect for my body type.
And if you want to see what Mark and I got up to on our date night, check out this super cute video of us cruising along in downtown Salt Lake City. Such fun!
