I am one of those people who has to start things on a Monday. It’s like a clean slate. New diets, new jobs, new babies (haha, well, two were born on Mondays!) – I feel like Mondays are a jumping off point. So how fortuitous that New Year’s Day 2018 is beginning on a Monday. I couldn’t ask for a more auspicious start to the year!
Because make no mistake – 2018 is going to be MY year. I have so many plans to rock it out. I want to do so much with the next 365 days, and I plan to share it all here. In fact, one of my resolutions (and I use that word in the way it is MEANT to be used – ie a firm decision to do or not do do something) for this year is to update this blog every single day.
Every. Single. Day.
Whoo-boy! That’s a lofty goal right there, let me tell you. Because as I learned from our #FamilyPicADay2017 Project (major points to me for sticking to it!!), doing something every day is TOUGH. But writing is my joy, and I seem to have forgotten how to do it lately. So as part of my strategy for living a better life, I am forcing myself to WRITE. Every single day.
I have other goals, as well. Like wanting to earn a certain amount of money this year. It’ll be tough, but I am going to work hard. I want this to be my first six figure year. I want to use my creativity – writing and photography and art and craft – to earn money. I have a million ideas, and with some hard work, I plan to see them through.
I want to do another photo project. A photo every day of my kids. More on that later.
I saw this posted on a friend’s Facebook wall, and it got my wheels turning. Woody Guthrie’s 1943 Resolutions:
Yes, Woody! I am with you on many of these, 75 years later.
I want to work more and better and by a schedule.
I want to eat good and take care of my hygiene. Self care is of paramount importance!
I won’t write a song a day, but I will write every day.
Keeping a good home by changing the bed clothes and keeping my rancho clean fall into the same category of self care.
I, too want to read lots of good books and listen to music.
And I definitely need to learn how to people better.
We seem to have both given thought to our finances.
And damn it all, I am going to help beat fascism! Wake up and fight!
Most of all, I want to love everybody.
2018 is the year of focus and accomplishment. I want to get better at photography and videos. I want to travel. I want to paint and make pretty things.
I am ready to do like Alexander Hamilton. After all this is not a moment, it’s the movement. And every action’s an act of creation. And I am NOT THROWING AWAY MY SHOT!
Okay, so there it is. I’m setting my intentions now. 2018 is my year, and I will work harder than ever before to see things through and build my life and my business into something better, bigger and more worthwhile.
