A new ice cream parlor recently opened up down the road from us, so the other night, we decided to take the kids over for a bit of a treat. Mark and I have decided that we no longer want to have junk food in the house, and we said that if we want ice cream, we would rather pay a bit more for one serving of it than get it cheaper from the store but end up eating it all at home.
So off we toddled to Tastee Treat to see how they fared. Dexter was super excited and was dancing along the pavement in anticipation. We ordered him a kiddie cone, which was almost as large as the adult cone Mark ordered! I had a hot fudge sundae, as it just sounded so delicious. Of course, I only managed to eat a bit, feeding the rest to Daniel and Mark.
As we finished our delicious dessert, I noticed how beautiful the field next to us looked all lit up by the sun as it set. I wanted to get some pictures of Dexter, and so we went over and had a few minutes of play time in the rushes. I didn’t want to go too far, as I was afraid of bugs, spiders and snakes. Luckily the worst we had to contend with were the ever-present prickly things that get stuck to our clothes everywhere we go.
I think seeing the way the photos turned out has made me realize that I need to get my kids some new clothes! The majesty of the sunset is kind of lost by the randomness of Dexter’s outfit. I think something like the childrens designer clothes range from Strawberry Children would give us some cute choices for future impromptu photoshoots. Maybe some Moschino kids clothes would give us the look we were going for.
Still, I love the way they turned out, and the backdrop was perfect, considering it is bordered on one side by an ice cream parlor and the other by a four lane highway! Just goes to show you can find beauty anywhere.
