Whew, what a crazy couple of weeks it’s been! I just returned from a two week sojourn to my home state of Pennsylvania, where we took our boys to go see their grandparents. Baby Chester hadn’t actually met my dad yet, so it was a big deal. The last time we were home was two years ago when I was barely four months pregnant!
My parents home is lovely, but it’s quite small, so it was important to us to make sure we spent as much time as possible getting out and about with the kids. I grew up in a small town in northwestern PA, and my entire childhood was spent climbing steep hills, hiking through the Allegheny National Forest and jumping into the Brokenstraw Creek to cool off. With three little boys to entertain, I had big plans to really show off the natural wonders of my favorite part of the world.
There was one small consideration that was holding me back, however. I’ve spoken about it before, and I’m not ashamed to say that I’m still dealing with the problem of Light Bladder Leakage. I wrote recently about my experience with Poise Liners, and they are fantastic! But it isn’t always practical to wear them when you’re going to be gone for hours with no access to changing facilities! So I headed to Walmart to pick up some Poise Impressa.
You might be wondering about the difference in the two products. Let me explain. Poise Liners help catch any leakage, keeping your clothing fresh and clean. But the Poise Impressa actually stops leaks before they happen. What? How? Really? YES!
You start with the sizing kit. Beginning with Size 1 (the smallest) you insert the product similar to how you’d use a tampon. The product is not absorbent. It doesn’t soak anything up. It simply helps to stop leaks all together. Each kit includes six bladder supports (two of each size), along with a $4 coupon toward a 10-count Single-Size Pack of Impressa.
For me, it is that little bit of confidence that I can go out hiking with my kids. Or visit major attractions where bathroom wait times may be more than I’d like.
I know it’s an embarrassing subject. Like our periods, birth control and the dreaded yeast infection or UTI, stress urinary incontinence feels like something we have to keep a secret. And that’s fine. Poise Impressa will definitely ease your mind if this is the kind of thing you want to hide. However, I’m of the opinion that talking about issues such as this helps to make it not such a taboo subject. Let’s face it – women have the raw end of the deal when it comes to many things in this world. We can at least help make it easier for each other by admitting when we need a little extra support.
My name is Katie, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I sometimes wet my pants when my kids jump on me! I’m not ashamed that I carry incontinence products in my purse because sneezing carries heavier penalties than it used to. And I’m definitely not ashamed that I laugh so hard sometimes that I have to cross my legs and hop to the bathroom as fast as possible in case a puddle forms around me!
I have enough to worry about with my kiddos and husband. I don’t need to have to worry about smelling of urine or wet pants! If that is how you feel, I’d head to Walmart and try out the Poise Impressa bladder supports for yourself. It may be just the thing you need for your own peace of mind.
