Yesterday we checked out a new Farmers Market that we hadn’t been to before! My friend Amy suggested we join her and her friend, Peggy, for a trek into downtown Orlando to see the Lake Eola Farmers Market. And I’m so glad we did!
I’ve written about the various Farmers Markets we’ve been to in the past, but this one was in such a beautiful setting, right on (you guessed it!) Lake Eola! The original plan had been to check out the wares and then go for a nice walk around the lake, maybe taking some new family photos. But the oppressing heat made for cranky babies and a VERY cranky mother. So we didn’t stay TOO long, I’m afraid.
The market was really great, though. Fresh foods, natural products, artists and a ton of produce! Amy bought a ton of fresh veggies and invited us for dinner, and I succumbed to the Jamaican man who was insistent I buy his last bag of Sorrel to boost my immune health! But at $6, who was I to resist?!
The Filthy Farmgirl handmade soaps were a RIOT. I actually had to stop and ask if they ever get people complaining about their display (you can check out their products here if you want to know what I’m talking about), but amazingly she said no! I didn’t buy any, but after Amy and Peggy both got some, I was kicking myself for not biting the bullet and indulging my senses a bit. They smell amazing!
We did get a few photos as we walked, which I just love. It is so much fun to be out together with the kids and good friends, and I just love how much we all enjoy it. Heat be damned! We know how to have fun!
After we had looked around, we took the opportunity to have a bit of a rest in the Adirondack chairs that were littered around the spacious park. The boys had a blast playing in the grass. Dexter was all about throwing it in the air while Daniel was precious in his reaction to being on the ground.
And while Amy was buying her veggies, I stole her camera and took some cute photos of Dexter and her daughter Rowan. We’re pretty sure a wedding is in their future. Those kids ADORE each other!
We had so much fun on our little outing, and I’m so glad we have such a beautiful area of the world to explore. There is ALWAYS something to do here, and you don’t have to pay a fortune to get out and enjoy yourself. We are definitely going to go back soon and explore downtown Orlando a bit more. We’ve been here over a year now and still haven’t really done much out that way.
I can’t wait!
