As I write this, I’m recovering from a mild sunburn. We spent a fun-filled few days traveling up to Yellowstone to see Old Faithful, down through the Grand Tetons and into Jackson Hole, Wyoming for a day of exploring. It was a fun time, but guess who forgot to wear sunscreen? Amazingly, the only part of me that isn’t pink is my face!
As a kid, my face used to bear the brunt of my lack of sun protection. Every summer, my nose would peel off in unattractive strips of bloody skin, leaving me covered in dark freckles by the time school started up. Even as an adult, I have never been very vigilant about sunscreen because it always seemed such an inconvenience. First you have to remember to bring it with you, and you have to remember to put it on a certain amount of time before you actually expose yourself to the sun. And sunscreen has a very distinctive odor that many (including me!) find unpleasant. So over the years, I’ve just tried to wear oversized sunglasses and hats to try and protect my face from the harmful sun.
One thing that has always bothered me is that I never feel like I can wear makeup during the summer. Besides the fact that I sweat it all off, I also feel like using moisturizer and foundation actually makes me more susceptible to sunburn. I have tried using sunscreen under my makeup, but it looks and feels awful, and I even have had allergic reactions to it in the past. But recently, I’ve become aware that there are products on the market that combine sunscreen inside moisturizer. Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 15 uses SolaSheer Technology, which basically puts a broad spectrum SPF into their already amazing moisturizing agents. It has an exclusive formation of Vitamins B3, E and B5 to enhance skin’s beauty and health and improve its natural moisture barrier.
As always, Olay provides 7 skin benefits in one product:
- Replenishes moisture
- Evens skin tone and appearance
- Enhances brightness
- Visibly smooths fine lines and wrinkles
- Minimizes the look of pores
- Restores firmness
- Visibly reduces dark spots
For me, it is the perfect thing to use before the rest of my makeup routine. My face is tough to moisturize due to my Ichthyosis Vulgaris, which causes dry, flaky skin. Olay has always been my go-to moisturizer, and it works amazingly well for me. Having an in-built SPF means I can protect my fragile skin from any more damage, and it works great as a primer for my foundation.
But here’s the really exciting part – Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 15 has become my day to day beauty regime in these increasingly warmer days. It works for me as a no frills moisturizer, keeping my skin dewy and soft all day long. It’s perfect for the majority of my summer days, which are actually makeup-free. It’s really lightweight and easy to wear, so I don’t feel like my face is sticky or gross as I get out and about with my kids. Even better, it’s packed with antioxidants to help condition my skin’s surface, so I am actually making my skin look better every day.
Basically, I’m a hard sell when it comes to sun protection. I have always been more concerned with looking good than in doing what’s necessary to protect my skin. But with Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 15, I can now do both!
I can’t recommend this product enough for any woman who wants to moisturize and protect her skin in the warmer months.
