No Cord, No Bull or Why I’m Grateful for My Cordless Hoover in My New Home

Have you heard the news?! We bought a new house! It’s been a crazy journey to get here, but it’s nearly two weeks since we officially got the keys, and we are slowly but surely making it into a home. The house is amazing. It is a very “grown up” sort of house, which makes me feel really out of my element, but it is such a lovely space, and I fell in love with it the moment we saw it.

One of the best features of our new home is the flooring. It has three levels, each with something different. The upper floor and stairwell have a plush white carpet which shows EVERY piece of fuzz and mess. The basement and its stairs are also carpeted, but it is a more tightly woven and textured type, though also white. And the main floor features beautiful oak hardwood. The previous owners had two large dogs, and while the house looked clean, we made sure to use our vacuum, broom and mop to really ensure it was properly cleaned. It was important to us for many reasons, not least of which was that our youngest son, Chester, isn’t walking yet and so spends a LOT of time on the floors.

It’s important at this point for me to make clear of something. We don’t ever call our vacuum a vacuum. We call it a Hoover. We call the act of vacuuming “Hoovering.” When we talked about it, I thought it was because both Mark and I had spent several years living in England, where they use the term. But when I thought back, I realized that my family has always had a Hoover, and I grew up with the brand as the only vacuum worth owning. So when I was offered the Hoover AIR™ CORDLESS SERIES 3.0 UPRIGHT VACUUM to try out, I knew it was the perfect one for me.

I actually received it a few days after we moved in. I was interested to see it in action, as with three little boys under 5, hoovering is something that can be quite traumatic. Not only do they get scared about the noise, but they run around, tripping over the cords, and they have attempted on occasion to unplug it while it’s in use! A cordless variety was just what I needed.

When I opened the package, I was like a little mom on Christmas morning, so excited was I about the experience of unboxing. Inside were several attachments that would make cleaning easier, AND there was an extra battery pack and a wall mountable charger!

I set the battery to charge immediately, figuring it would need it, and I set about trying out my new machine. I started small, going over the first floor with all its hardwood. The previous owners had left us a couple of small area rugs, and although I had previously vacummed them, the new Hoover still managed to pick up what looked like a whole small dog! So much fur!

I honestly couldn’t believe how much hair came out of that tiny little rug.

As I proceeded to go through the rest of the house, I noticed three amazing things.

Firstly, the battery that came with the machine lasted though the entire cleaning, including every room and the four flights of stairs. This was out of the box without charging. 4300+ square feet of awesome! I also saw that the battery works with all products in the Hoover cordless line

Secondly, the Windtunnel 3 technology was super powerful. It has amazing suction and manages to lift dirt, hair and dander like it’s the easiest thing in the world.

Thirdly, it is the MOST maneuverable Hoover I’ve ever used, snaking into corners and crevices and going right up against cupboards and other furniture easily. The fact that you can remove the wand and add attachments to get into other areas is a huge bonus.

I love the freedom of a cordless. There’s no worrying about tripping or kids getting electrocuted! And there’s no winding it up or unwinding it. But the best thing is that you can move around the house without having to worry about finding an outlet!

The Hoover Cordless Family has many products with aforementioned interchangeable battery system to allow you to tackle a variety of messes with the perfect tool for the job, big or small. There are 3 vacuums and a hard floor wet cleaner in this line, and each one is as amazing as the next.

I am so glad we were able to try out this awesome Hoover. It has given me so much confidence in my new home, knowing that it’s clean of the former owner’s dirt and free to be filled with our own! Ha ha. I keep it in our coat closet for easy access because it is so handy to use for quick messes. It’s a heck of a lot easier to clean up the kitchen after meals now! Especially as baby Chester has entered his “throw-food-on-the-floor-instead-of-in-his-mouth” stage.

What do you think? Would you use one of these new Cordless Hoovers?
