Having had three babies in the last four years, I know a little bit about how hard pregnancy and new motherhood can be. All three of my pregnancies were TOTALLY different from one another. Each came with its own set of unique circumstances and its own special brand of problems. One thing they ALL had in common was that I was a little bit, shall we say hormonal?
With morning sickness that lasted all day and night, constipation that had me looking six months pregnant when I was merely a few weeks in and heartburn that radiated through my whole body, I had no end of awful symptoms to deal with. The nausea was especially bad during my second and third pregnancies (my first had next to none, thankfully!). I tried sickness bands, teas, crackers and hardcore prescribed anti-nausea medicines, but nothing helped.
In all my pregnancies I wanted to sleep ALL the time. I was exhausted and had no energy for anything. The first one was no big deal. I could nap whenever I needed to. But the second and third pregnancies, I obviously had other children to take care of, and that meant I couldn’t give in.
So how awesome would it have been if healthy mama® products were available then?
As a nursing mom, I can tell you that a sweet little baby can literally suck the energy right out of you. Keeping up with all my kids, the house and work can make it really difficult to get in all the nutrients I need for me AND for my son. Thanks to healthy mama® brand Boost It Up! Protein Energy Drink, I can grab something that helps to keep me going while giving me the protein my body is craving.
It is also great for pregnant women who may be suffering the horror of morning sickness. It is filled with B vitamins and electrolytes, and it has ginger to help with nausea. All in all it’s a great help!
I bought mine at Target, and I was enthusiastic to see they have a whole new section called Pre/Post Natal, which is full of products specifically geared to pregnant and new moms! Outstanding!
I also really love the clever naming system they’ve used for their products. Obviously the protein energy drink is called “Boost It Up,” as I’ve said. But they also have an antacid called “Tame the Flame,” a product for constipation called “Move It Along,” prenatal vitamins called “Be Well Rounded,” and even an organic herbal tea to support lactation called “Make the Milk.” There’s a ton of products you can see at the healthy mama® website or at your local Target.
My favorite right now is the “Tame the Flame” antacids, as I get the most awful heartburn whenever I nurse, and these are SO good at helping me. I couldn’t find the “Make the Milk” tea (they were all out!), but I can’t wait to try it!
I don’t know if I’ll have any more children. Sometimes I think I’d like one more, and other times I am convinced that three is plenty. One of the biggest things that worries me is all of those darn pregnancy symptoms that make me so miserable. But with these phenomenal products, I am starting to think another pregnancy wouldn’t be so bad…
