If you’ve never been to Disney at Christmas time, you might not know about the Osborne Family Spectacle of Danielcing Lights. At Hollywood Studios from early November to early January each year, over five MILLION Christmas lights are perfectly synchronized to holiday music.
We headed over at sunset on Christmas Eve, intent on showing the kids something spectacular before bedtime. It did NOT disappoint.
When we first arrived, we just had to take photos around the giant Christmas tree. I recently taught Dexter the song, “Oh, Christmas Tree,” and he serenaded the public with it as we stood there. It was adorable.
Then it was over to the bandstand where a DJ was playing happy Christmas music for the masses. Dexter started dancing, so I picked him up and danced with him. It was sweet. So much fun.
And then we headed straight for the lights. It took a while to get there because they were forcing everyone to go a particular way, and it meant a lot more walking than strictly necessary. But it was fun. As soon as we turned a corner, it was like someone had literally flipped a switch. There were lights EVERYWHERE.
Dexter and Daniel were in AWE.
We made our way through the crowds and watched as the lights twinkled and danced to the various songs that played. There was so much to see, and it was so much fun.
It was super exciting at one point when tiny flakes of snow filled the air around us, blown out of snow machines on top of the roof of a nearby building. It gave the breezy Florida evening that extra chill that made it feel even MORE Christmas-y.
After about half an hour of walking around, we battled our way to the end where we entered the Writer’s Stop, a little store/cafe that served us some hot cocoa and warmed our slight chill. It was a perfect end to the evening.
If you’re ever in Florida at Christmas time, I highly recommend heading to Hollywood Studios and seeing the beautiful Osborne Family Spectacle of Danielcing Lights.
