Peppermint Patties - Cream cheese, mint extract, powdered sugar and chocolate. A brilliant Christmas treat!

Gosh, I am of the opinion that ANY time of year is the right time for peppermint patties… but then again, I am from Pennsylvania originally. Still, there is something about chocolate and peppermint together that just screams Christmastime!

If you ever wanted to make your very own peppermint patties, look no further than my trusty recipe.

Ingredients:

1 8oz pack cream cheese
2lb powdered sugar
2 tsp mint extract
2 C chocolate chips
1 T shortening

Bring the cream cheese to room temperature to make it easy to work with. Pour in the mint extract. Then simply combine it with the powdered sugar until it is the consistency of cookie dough.

Break of small pieces and roll it around into little balls, and then flatten them to form patties.

Place the patties on a lined cookie sheet until they are all done.

Place in the fridge and allow them to get nice and cold.

Meanwhile, melt your chocolate chips down with the shortening and stir until it’s shiny and liquid.

Take the cold patties and dip them gently in the warm chocolate, coating them evenly. Place back on the cookie sheet until they’ve all been dipped and then place the tray back into the fridge until the chocolate hardens.

Et voila! Easy peasy peppermint patties!

Enjoy!

Note – These make great little mints if you leave the chocolate off and make them smaller little balls. They sort of melt in your mouth and are dreamy!
