Last summer, when Mark and I took the kids to Pennsylvania to visit family, we had one evening when my mom watched the kids and we went out to the local bar with my brother. It was a fun night with pool, darts, dancing and alcohol-fueled fun, but one of the things that sticks out in my mind the most is the food! Bar food is always fun. Whether it’s chicken wings or pizza balls or just the stale pretzels they serve with beer, there’s always something good on the menu.
On this night in particular, we decided to try something called “Pizza Rollers.” What they served was utterly awesome. Basically they were these deep-fried dough sticks with pizza filling inside. Served with marinara sauce and some ranch dressing on the side, they hit the spot completely. I must admit, we liked them so much we ordered them twice!
Fast forward to last week when I suddenly thought about them again. I decided to try my hand at making my own. And they turned out perfect. They were SO simple I figured I ought to share!

Ingredients:
Egg Roll Wrappers
String Cheese
Pepperoni
If you’ve ever made egg rolls, you’ll have no problem with this. The package has clear directions on how to roll them, but here are my own instructions.

1. Lay down one of the egg roll wraps so that it forms a diamond. Put some pepperoni across it.
2. Place a cheese stick across it.
3. Fold up the bottom point of the wrap.
4. Use a tiny bit of water to wet the edges and then fold over each side point into the middle.
5. Use a tiny bit more water to wet the top of the wrap and then roll the whole thing from the bottom to the top.
BOOM! Make as many as you like.

If you have a deep fryer, this will probably be easier, as you can completely submerge them for even cooking. But I don’t have one, so I simply put some Crisco into my skillet and fried up four at a time, turning them a quarter turn each time one edge was golden brown.

You probably could fry more than four at once if you have the room. But I made mine in advance and they were in the fridge. So I didn’t want the oil temperature to fall down too much.
Anyway, once you remove them, you will have DELICIOUS snacks that will please ANY pizza fan.

They are ooey gooey melty cheesy in the middle, and they taste SOOOOO good.

And the best part is that you can make them way in advance and cook them at the last minute. They are great party food! They take only 30 seconds to prepare and only a minute or so to cook. What more could you ask for?
