Once again, I’ve skipped a week of updates as not a lot changes these days. I still feel fat and frumpy, and I’m still rather annoyed at the state of my body, but I’m trying hard to enjoy the changes I’m going through. It’s hard, but since this is DEFINITELY my last baby, I am determined to enjoy it. I even made sure to smile in last week’s bump photo. Nice, right?
And then I got sick. Not just a sneeze or a bit of snot, but full blown bronchitis. AGAIN. You might remember I had this in my last pregnancy, and it lasted a whopping THREE MONTHS. I had fevers going up to 102, and I couldn’t breathe. A bad cough, sinus pressure that made me feel like my head was literally being ripped from my body and I couldn’t stop vomiting.
Annoyingly we had friends staying with us from Utah for a week while all this was going on, and it was just really awful. I felt like I was letting them down.
On Friday, we were supposed to have a girly day out, but after a few hours walking around Downtown Disney, I was so ill, my friend just told me to get home and rest. I took her advice, and on Saturday I was at Urgent Care, too ill to cope, and I was put on Augmentin to deal with the bronchitis. Unfortunately I started having some major bad reaction to it, with even more vomiting, diarrhea and some pretty awful gastrointestinal distress. I felt like my stomach was BOILING.
Luckily I had an OB appointment set for Tuesday morning, so I went in and told her all my issues, and she agreed to switch me to regular amoxicillin and gave me some Zofran for the nausea/vomiting. Hopefully it will help!
I was also referred back to the high risk OB that I saw in my last pregnancy. I was SO hoping to get out of it this time around, but it seems my doctor wants me to have the specialists looking after me due to all my health issues. I had to pay nearly $200 for diabetic supplies so I can monitor my blood sugars since I can’t take a Glucose Tolerance Test, and I have to go see a cardiologist to deal with my Long QT Syndrome.
It’s all very upsetting, but it must be done.
We also got to hear the heartbeat for the first time this week! My doctor surprised me with the doppler, and our smudge was between 144 and 152 BPM. I know there are old wive’s tales about this, but when I look them up some say that 140+ means girl, and some say the opposite! So I guess we’re going to have to wait and see…
The good news it that I am having a gender scan done on the 29th, and I will HOPEFULLY know then whether we’re having another little Prince or my long-awaited little Princess. I can’t wait!
