Pregnancy Diary – 20 Weeks

Well technically I am 20 weeks + 1 day, as I’m posting this update a day late due to the difficulties I’m having getting online here at my parents house. But whatever – the point is that I’m officially HALF WAY through this pregnancy!! And I am overly excited about this.

20 week bump

Forgive the tousled hair and the shabby background. I had just woken up and was super excited about the milestone and couldn’t wait to document it!

This week has been slightly difficult with regard to dressing my growing bump. Given that we’ve come up north for a month, my Florida clothing hasn’t been very appropriate to the weather! I had gone on eBay a week before we left and spent $150 to get some warm maternity clothing, but unfortunately it didn’t arrive before we had to go! So I was stuck wearing my ONE pair of Davina For Next workout trousers (they seriously make the BEST maternity bottoms!!) for several days in a row before my mom and I headed to the local Good Will to try and score some discount maternity clothes.

And we did!

I wound up finding five pair of awesome trousers and some shirts which, though not maternity, work really well to cover my bump and keep me super comfy. So I am over the moon and also quite a lot warmer than when I got here!

I do find it a big change here in the US when it comes to buying maternity clothes. In the UK, there is a Mothercare or Mamas and Papas in practically every town centre. But here (at least in this backwoods area of the country), there are very few places you can get clothes. The internet is fine for buying clothes, but then you don’t get to SEE them or try them on, which is a big problem. I bought a maternity/nursing bra earlier in this pregnancy because my boobs kind of exploded right from the beginning. But even though I went and got measured in a shop, I had to buy it online, and unfortunately it just didn’t fit.

FRUSTRATED!

But hey ho, that’s how it goes sometimes.

So now that I’m pretty much kitted out in clothing, are there any issues? Well, I’m glad you asked.

If you have ever been pregnant yourself, you might relate to my recent troubles. I had the same thing in my last pregnancy around this same time, and this week has been utter hell because of it. That’s right, I’m talking about the dreaded CONSTIPATION!

At this point it’s been somewhere around six days since I’ve managed to “go.” And the resulting pain is getting to be a real problem. So today, my mom and I are going to go out for a chinese buffet at lunch , which in the past has been almost guaranteed to get the ball rolling, so to speak. And if that doesn’t work, I’ll be headed to the pharmacy for a magic pill to help me out.

Other than that, most everything is peachy keen. I’m loving being back in my family home and letting Dexter have lots of fun with his grandparents and their dog, Atticus. In just under a week, he’s made so many strides, it’s like he’s a totally new kid! He’s even learned a ton of new words, which is just amazing.

That’s about it for week 20. I’m just so happy to have got this far, and now the countdown is to V-DAY, when the baby becomes viable outside of the womb. So that’s now under four weeks away and is the next big milestone. πŸ˜€

  1. You are so adorable especially pregnant! Your baby bump is so cute! Luckily when I was pregnant I never was constipated, thank god lol! Luckily you found some maternity clothes for a good price especially since you already bought some and spent money on some but didn’t get them in time! That is the only thing about internet shopping, that and not being able to try them on and see if they fit like you like them to. Good luck with everything especially going boo boo ;-).

    1. Aw, you’re so lovely. πŸ™‚ Thank you!

You are so lucky not to have got constipated! It’s the worst thing ever! Lol. And it’s one of those things no one talks about, so you never want to admit it! Lol. Luckily, I have no shame and feel no worries telling the world via my blog. πŸ˜‰
