It’s almost time for the biggest game of the year, and I know I can’t be the only one gearing up to celebrate! Even though my team lost out in the playoffs (sorry, Pittsburgh!), I’ll still be ripping it up with friends as we watch what is sure to be an amazing game!
We love football parties in our group. Friends and family gather, and people who are normally quiet and reserved really let loose, as we all collectively scream at the television. And all that yelling and jumping around requires energy. So great food and drinks are an absolute must have.
We’re lucky we have a Target just down the street. When it comes to game day, I know that we can easily get all the food and fun decor we need to really get people in the team spirit! For us, it’s all about family friendly (we have three kids after all!) sweet treats and yummy snacks that will satisfy children and adults, alike!
I try to have a good mix of store-bought and home made foods on hand, as it means less work for me, and far more time to spend with our guests.
One of the big hits of our parties is this AH-MAZING Snickers No-Bake Cheesecake that you can make the day before. It is LUSCIOUS and such a treat. And since Snickers is an Official Sponsor of Super Bowl 50, I figured it was the perfect dessert!
Here’s what you need:
2 pre-made chocolate graham cracker pie crusts
8 oz semisweet chocolate chips
4 Tbsp peanut butter
14oz can caramel sweetened condensed milk
8 oz cream cheese (room temp)
1 tsp vanilla
6 Snickers fun size bars
To begin, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave and then spread half in the bottom of one chocolate pie crust and half in the other. Place the crusts in the fridge so the chocolate sets up.
Next, mix your 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk and your 8 oz cream cheese, beating with an electric mixer for about three minutes or until very smooth. Add your vanilla and stir.
Remove the pie crusts from the fridge and spread 2 Tbsp of peanut butter on top of each one.
Pour your cream cheese mixture over the top and spread so it is smooth.
Chop up your Snickers bars into small chunks and gently drop onto the top of each pie, letting them fall where they will.
Finally, use a spoon to drizzle the chocolate and caramel sauces over the top of each pie.
Refrigerate until they are ready to serve.
Isn’t it beautiful!?

For store-bought snacks, I still like to jazz them up if I can. I found these SUPER yummy peanut butter rice crispy treats with chocolate on top. I bought a tray and then cut them into rectangles. I then used some white royal icing to make a lace-up design on each one to give the impression of a football. Cute, right?!
It’s important to have a nice snack that people can just grab by the handful, as well. So I made a giant bowl of Peanut Butter M&M Muddy Buddies! This is a super easy recipe that makes a great snack for everyone.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 box chocolate rice cereal
1 C chocolate chips
1/2 C peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 C powdered sugar
1 bag peanut butter m&ms
In a large bowl, dump your chocolate rice cereal and set aside.
In another bowl, add your chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter. Put in the microwave for a minute or so until the chocolate is melted. Bring it out and stir all the ingredients to combine them into a nice smooth consistency. Add your vanilla and stir until combined.
Dump your mixture over the top of your cereal and stir them all together until the cereal is completely coated.
Add your powdered sugar and stir again until everything is coated.
Add your bag of peanut butter m&ms and stir once more.
This is such a great snack – especially for the kids in the group! They can’t get enough!
As far as “real” food goes, I love that Target has a range of frozen snacks you can buy which just require heating up in the oven. I grabbed several boxes and created a sort of appetizer sampler with buffalo chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, macaroni and cheese bites, and more! It is a little something for everyone.
I also made a huge vat of my famous Chicken Fajita Queso, which is always the first thing to go at a party. It is sort of spicy and sweet and creamy, and with a huge plate of tortilla chips, it definitely helps to fill the void!
To wrap things up, I always try to create some form of mock-tail for the group. I decided to try a delicious Starburst Strawberry Lemonade, which was SUPER simple and REALLY refreshing.
All you need is a bag of Starburst and a bottle of your favorite brand of lemonade. It’s best if you make it the night before because it needs time to combine.
Simply unwrap about 20 strawberry flavor Starburst candies (you can use any flavor you want) and place them in the bottom of a large pitcher. Pour your lemonade over the top and place the whole thing in the fridge overnight.
When you’re ready to serve, simply remove from the fridge and stir to combine. The candies sort of dissolve in acidic lemonade and add a really nice sweetness to it. Throw in a few plastic cups and colorful straws, and you’ve got a real treat!
As far as decor goes, I try to tread lightly. Football cups, plates and napkins are a must, and we have a few little extra touches on hand to add to the vibe. Streamers hung from the chandelier are a fun addition, as is the super cute glittery gold centerpiece. Our new table is too big for the green football tablecloth, so instead, I folded it up lengthwise and used it as a table runner! Score!
We found a great ten-pack of kazoos, which we set out for the kids to use, but it turned out the adults loved them, too! Any way to make extra noise!
Don’t forget to set out party bowls of candy so guests can help themselves!
All in all, I think it’s the perfect combination of savory and sweet food that will please every palate. Now it’s just time to watch the big game and see who goes home crying!
Are you having a big game party this year? What will you be serving?
