Lately, you have been making your presence known to your father and me, and it is the most magical of experiences every time you do. Not only can we see evidence of your strength and virility, but I feel you inside of me, proving that you are going to be a vivacious and loving little boy, full of a power and grace I can take no credit for.
Last week, you frightened the both of us. Mama was taken to the hospital because in your quest to prove your health, you kicked or punched part of my placenta away from the uterine wall, and I bled. The doctors took good care of the both of us, but for five whole days, daddy and I were put through the ringer with tests and observations. My maternity notes have more than doubled in size!
I guess what I’m saying is, “calm down, little one.” I know you are eager to come out, but you still have nearly six whole weeks before you are due to arrive. Give us a chance to get your room in order and to make sure that we are prepared in every way possible to give you the life that you deserve.
Mommy loves you very very much, and daddy kisses and talks to you every day, hoping that you’ll recognise us both when you make your debut.
Time is ticking away, and all I can tell you is that we are unbelievably excited at the prospect of you. Our little Dexter. The tiny little kickboxer who can’t sit still for a moment. I wonder what you will be like? Who will you grow into?
You are my little miracle baby, and I am already so proud of you.
Forever your loving mother,
