Strawberry Carrot Dirt Cups
With Spring in the air, I can’t help but think about getting out in the garden and planting some veggies for summer salads. I can’t wait to get stuck in to all that dirt! I have a feeling my boys are going to want to get in there with me and get down and dirty! The anticipation has put me in mind of a favorite recipe of mine which is PERFECT for kids. These are great for kids’ parties or just as a fun treat on the weekend. They’re fairly simple to make and they make you look SUPER creative and awesome with very little real effort.
Without further ado, here are the kid-friendly Strawberry Carrot Dirt Cups!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Carrot Strawberries:
Strawberries, rinsed and dried
Bag of Orange Candy Melts
Carrot Pudding Cups:
Crushed Oreos
1 box Chocolate Pudding
Milk (required number of cups on pudding box)
Additional Materials:
Clear cups
Parchment paper
Plastic baggie and scissors
Firstly, you need to line a baking sheet or pan with parchment paper. Melt your orange candy melts into a bowl. Holding the strawberries by the stems, dip them into the orange candy to coat them and then place on the parchment paper.
Take a sandwich bag and put the rest of the melted orange candy in the bag. Snip a tiny corner of the bag and use it to drizzle the candy coating gently side to side over the strawberries. This makes them look a little more like carrots.
Prepare your pudding as directed on the box.
Next, take your plastic cups and add 2 Tbsp of crushed Oreos to the bottom of each one.
Pour pudding into the cups on top of the Oreos and then top with more crushed cookies. Place one of your carrot strawberries on top in the center. You can serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
How much fun are these?! They would be great for Earth day at school!
Here’s a tip for you if you’re in a hurry. You can make an easy version of these by just buying pre-made pudding cups, removing the lids and putting Oreos and your carrot strawberries on top. This is a great way to do it if you have a lot of kids and want to let them do it themselves. You can even add some gummy worms on top for realism. SO simple! Whichever way you do it, though, it is a real crowd pleaser!
