Valentine’s Day Cocktail – Love Potion Chocolate Cherry Martini
Ah, Valentine’s Day… that most important of holidays. The one that makes those who are single hate all couples and all those who are in relationships angry and frustrated that their partner isn’t romantic enough…
I kid, I kid. Valentine’s Day can be a good bit of fun whether you’re single or in a relationship. And when you’re married to the love of your life (ahem… that’d be me), it can be a great excuse for adding a little extra effort into your day to day. With that in mind, I just had to share this awesome recipe for my Valentine’s Cocktail of choice: Love Potion Chocolate Cherry Martini! SO easy and delicious and it makes two perfect martinis for you and whomever you choose to spend the day with.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 shot of Cherry flavored vodka
1 shot of Chocolate vodka (or chocolate liqueur)
3 TBSP. of half and half
Chocolate sauce
Ice cubes
Maraschino cherries
Heart confetti candies
1 can Cherry Coke
Sure not all of these are gonna be in your liquor cabinet, but the holiday is all about going the extra mile – so go out and buy them! You’ll thank me once you’ve tasted this. I promise.
In a martini shaker add the Cherry vodka, Chocolate Vodka, half and half, 1 Tbsp of chocolate sauce and your ice cubes. Shake that thing like a Polaroid picture!
Now, for the next part, feel free to have fun. I can see this leading to all sorts of interesting play between you and your significant other. (ahem… don’t mind me and my dirty mind!). Anyway… Drizzle some chocolate sauce onto a plate, and then dip and coat the rims of two martini glasses. Then dip or sprinkle the confetti candies around. If you’ve ever made a margarita, you’ll get the idea.
Now swirl some chocolate sauce inside the glasses and add in a maraschino cherry to each one. Try not to have TOO much fun. Though I like to put on a show for my husband as I prepare these. I might pretend I’m a sexy girl version of Tom Cruise in Cocktail. If you accidentally spill some chocolate on yourself, feel free to lick it off.
Now pour half the martini mix into each glass, straining through the ice. Fill it up with Cherry Coke. You can garnish with more confetti candy and another cherry. Make it pretty.
What you do with the rest of your evening is your business, but if it doesn’t involve more chocolate syrup, I have to say you’re missing out.
Cheers!
