I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for BAND-AID® Brand. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
If you were to walk into my parents’ house, one of the first things you might notice is an entire wall of the living room devoted to military portraits. My mother and father both appear, young and smart in their Air Force uniforms. My grandfather is there, as is my great grandfather. Various aunts, uncles and cousins stand out amongst them, and they are each framed in beautiful wood frames that my father made for the purpose.
Our family is a military family from way back. It’s where my parents met when they were just teenagers. They are veterans of the Vietnam War, having done their duty by their country. My father still can be found waffling on about his years in the military, recounting stories of his youth, like being chewed out by Chuck Yeager for not saluting properly. Whenever I’ve complained about pregnancy, my mother reminds me that she was out there at nine months pregnant, walking along airplane wings with a heavy toolbox as she attempted to fix them.
I, myself, tried to join the Army when I was 18, but after three attempts, it was clear that I was 4F for life. But dozens of my friends were accepted with open arms, and I am proud (though saddened) that more than one of them have given their life for this country. Believe me when I say that I have only the highest respect for our military.
