I’ve decided to write a 4 part blog post of my weight journey over the last year. This is the first of the 4 parts dealing with my motivation for being more healthy.
About 3 years ago my father passed away and luckily even though I lived in the U.K and rarely got to visit home I had just visited the week before he passed away. While I love my Dad I was angry at him for a long time after his death. I was angry that he hadn’t taken care of himself properly and even in his latter years with all his health issues he didn’t seem to me to be making the drastic changes that were needed and I still can’t get over it to this day fully as he will never meet my baby boy 🙁
Growing up while my Dad supported me in anything I wanted to do I do wish he had been more healthy to do activities with me like hiking, biking, snowmobiling, skiing and 4 wheeling through the forest 🙂
So a couple of months before Dexter was born I made a decision that I wanted to be healthy and fit for Dexter so that I could keep up with him and do all the fun Dad/Son stuff that I missed out on. I wasn’t that overweight at the time but I was a few pounds above my maximum weight that I ever want to be.
I didn’t want this to just be a diet I wanted it to be a lifestyle change something that I would just always do so I was going to start off slow and try different things out and make sure I could find something that I could completely incorporate into my life.
The next post I’ll detail my first couple of months and what I did being a new daddy and taking on this internal challenge and how Dexter really helped make it happen
